FAQs

How long does the grooming take? It depends on your pet’s coat, size and temperament. Please allow a minimum of 3 hours for full haircuts and ask your groomer for an estimated time for pick up.

Do I need to make an appointment? Like salons for people, your groomer can see a limited amount of clients. If you need to book a full haircut appointment, please book in advance as our groomers book up rather quickly.

Is there anything I can do to help my dog be more relaxed for the visit? Yes! Go for a nice LONG walk, run, hike… this is recommended before any visit to your vet or grooming appointment.

What are anal glands? Anal glands are two small, grape-shaped glands located just under the skin at four o’clock and eight o’clock to the anus. The super stinky material they normally produce is used by dogs, cats, and other small mammals to lend a unique scent to their stool, thereby identifying it as their own.  Not all dogs empty them naturally so if they are scooching across the carpet please see your vet or certified groomer for assistance.

May I stay there while the grooming session is in progress? Well sure however running errands is a lot more fun! We have viewing windows however if your pet sees you, they can become anxious and think they are going home.

What if I can’t pick up right away? We aim to have most pets out within *3-4 hours of arrival. If your schedule does not allow for pick up at this time please let us know. Dogs with us more than 3 hours will receive a brief walk and given plenty of water. We never forget the cat and will keep them at ease as much as possible but please remember there is no place like home!

*Please allow more time for pets over 100 pounds and/or double coated, etc.

Due to limited space, pets left for more than 5 hours or that are picked up after business hours will incur a $35 daycare charge. Please let us know in advance should you need any special arrangements.

Is it customary to tip the groomer? Many people do. Like salons for people, feel free to tip if you are happy with the service.

Dental Day FAQ’s

How do you get my dog or cat not to wiggle? You will be surprised at how pets seem to understand the hygienist is helping them.  Using a towel for comfort under the pets head, your pet is at eye level with the hygienist so that all teeth may be reached.

Are all pets able to receive this service? No.  There are several reasons why your pet may not be a candidate for this service…

Severe anxiety or stress is not healthy for anyone or any pet. Within a few minutes the hygienist will know if your pet is showing signs of severe stress and you will be contacted.

Serious dental problems such as severe gingivitis, caries, fractures etc., need a veterinarian’s attention. Natural Cleaning hygienists are aware of the limitations of anesthesia-free cleanings and will inform you of their finds and recommend a visit to your vet.

Other medical issues may also prevent your pet from benefiting from this service. Be sure to address all medical issues with the hygienist.
